Privacy Policy

Hop Tales is a read-aloud game for children learning to read. This policy explains what the Hop Tales app does with information. The short version: it doesn't collect any.

The app collects no data

Hop Tales does not collect, store or share personal information, and nothing you or your child does in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.

• Speech stays on the device. While your child reads, the app uses Apple's speech recognition set to run on the device only. The audio is processed on the iPhone or iPad and then discarded. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
• Settings and progress stay on the device. The child's name or nickname, their accent and help-voice settings, and their reading progress are saved only on that device. Deleting the app deletes them.
• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no login.
• No analytics, advertising or tracking. The app contains no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party SDKs that send data off the device. It makes no network requests.

Microphone and speech recognition

The app asks for permission to use the microphone and speech recognition the first time your child reads. It needs both to hear the words being read aloud and move the story along. You can turn either off at any time in the device's Settings; the app will still open, but it can't listen while they're off.

Children's privacy

Hop Tales is made for children and is listed in the App Store's Kids Category for ages 6–8. We do not collect any personal information from children. The app has no links out of the app, no purchases and no way for a child to share anything with anyone.
